HMI Community Guidelines

1. This site is a communal area. If you’re going to be abusive, threatening or insulting, don’t do it here.
2. Help each other out: that’s the principle of the site. The more you help on investigations, the more likely others are to help with yours.
3. Likewise, if you gain useful knowledge or contacts through an investigation, please pass those on in other investigations and if possible by publishing your experiences online on a blog or forum.
4. Keep it simple and specific. It’s best to start small and see what you get – then you can apply what you find out there to further similar investigations.
5. Keep it relevant and focused on the investigation. Don’t go off on a tangent too much.
6. We reserve the right to remove contributions that are counter-productive to an investigation’s aims, or that threaten the existence of the site. Any user can also freeze a contribution by flagging it for moderation.
7. We will remove any contributions that are obviously commercial or spammy.
8. We want to be fair and just. If you are going to make an accusation you need to back it up with evidence and provide the accused with a right to reply.
9. We will not tolerate racism, sexism, homophobia or other forms of hate-speech. It’s not political correctness – it’s just good manners.
10. This is your place, and these are your investigations. The success of both depends on you – if you see anything dodgy, let us know. If you see something worth rewarding, let that person know. And if you can think of any improvements, use the Feedback page to tell us.
